DPF Diagnostics and Assessment
Measured. Verified. Correctly Fixed.
Modern diesel systems are complex. When a DPF warning appears, the filter is often reacting to another issue within the system. At Dragon Performance Centre, we assess the vehicle properly before any work is carried out.

Common Signs of a DPF Issue

• DPF warning light on the dashboard
• Loss of power or limp mode
• Constant or failed regeneration attempts
• Increased fuel consumption
• Strong exhaust smell or smoke
Diagnose It Properly. Fix It Once.

If your diesel has a DPF warning light, reduced power or repeated regeneration issues, the starting point is not cleaning. It is diagnosis.

Modern diesel engines monitor soot load, exhaust pressure, temperature and regeneration behaviour constantly. When a fault appears, the DPF is often reacting to something else within the system.

At Dragon Performance Centre, every DPF related issue begins with proper assessment. We analyse live data, review regeneration history and measure system performance before recommending any intervention.

We work from evidence. Not assumption.

Diagnosis Before Intervention
A diesel particulate filter does not become restricted without reason.

Incomplete regenerations, inaccurate sensor readings, fuelling imbalance, airflow issues and control system faults can all lead to DPF warnings. Cleaning the filter without identifying the cause simply delays the problem.

Our assessment focuses on real data from the vehicle, including measured back pressure, regeneration behaviour and overall system operation. Once we have verified the findings, we provide a clear recommendation based on the vehicle’s condition.

No guesswork. No default solution.
When Cleaning Is the Correct Solution
If diagnostics confirm the DPF itself is restricted and structurally sound, cleaning may be recommended.

Depending on severity, this may involve cleaning on the vehicle where appropriate, or removal for a more intensive restoration process.

For off vehicle cleaning, we use the Metclean E, a dedicated workshop system designed to remove internal soot and ash deposits under controlled conditions. The filter is removed, professionally restored and refitted, with before and after pressure readings recorded to verify improvement.

The objective is not to simply clear a warning light. It is to restore correct flow and operating efficiency within the system.

Our Standard
We approach DPF work the same way we approach performance diagnostics across the workshop.

Start with data.
Confirm the root cause.
Apply the correct solution.

We do not remove or gut DPF systems.
We do not apply blanket fixes.
We do not recommend unnecessary replacement.

Every vehicle is assessed properly and treated accordingly.
